Like all Roomba models like all Roomba models, the Combo J7+ is a pro at sucking up dirt and debris. Its intelligent navigation is supported by iRobot OS technology and PrecisionVision, which allows the bot to identify common objects in its path--such as pet waste or cords, and stay clear of them completely. The iRobot Combo j7+ is able to avoid furniture, such as tall chairs with backs that can trap the robot beneath them.
When self.emptying robot vacuum j7+ realizes that it's in a place that needs to be cleaned with water, a small robot arm is raised and swivels a mopping pad underneath it. It's a highly simple system that performed flawlessly during my tests. It was unable to remove water-based liquids such as juice or wine. Fortunately the mopping pad can be easily washed and reused.
The iRobot Combo's front camera is also useful. It can identify hazards like power cables and pet waste and avoid them to ensure a thorough cleaning. This feature is superior to the cameras on other robot vacuums that often get caught up on things like rug tassels. The iRobot Combo ju7+ front camera has blind spots that may cause it to miss certain objects.
The iRobot Combo ju7+ is expensive, however it performs well enough to justify the price. It's a highly rated product from customers who appreciate its smart features. It's worth looking at alternatives, like the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision isn't cheap but it has a lot of smart functions that make up for the cost. The live monitoring feature for homes is excellent, and it also looks cool. It's a great choice for families with children, pets, or anyone who wants to monitor their home when they're away. Most people who own a robotic mop and vacuum are amazed by the difference their floors make after using them regularly.
Roborock S7 Max Ultra
The S7 Max Ultra, Roborock's new robot vacuum and mop self-empty ($1299 on Amazon), is a fantastic upgrade from the S6 and S7 models. It offers a range of useful features including aggressive mopping, greater suction power (up to 5,100Pa as opposed to the earlier models which had 2,400Pa) and much more. It also has precise lidar navigation that functions as radar in 3D, meaning it can identify things such as baseboards, chairs and furniture legs to efficiently maneuver around them. It is also able to create customized cleaning routines that you can activate by pressing a button like a "After Meals" mode that scrubbing and scrubs kitchen floors.
This two-in-one features one unique feature not found in most other robots. VibraRise raises the mopping pad when it detects carpeting, to avoid getting area rugs wet. It also makes mopping more effective. It also has the ability to deep clean and mops carpets with one step, getting rid of dirt and dust more effectively than mops that spin. The app can be used to schedule weekly cleanings or clean on the spot.
The S7 Max Ultra is a fantastic device for its intended purpose However, it does have certain drawbacks. The most important is the high cost. It's the most expensive robot vacuum and mop set-up I've ever reviewed. The other issues aren't specific to this model but are more representative of the robotic vacuum market as a whole: it doesn't handle heavy spills or sticky messes well.
The S7 Max Ultra can be easily set up: just plug it in, connect it to your phone using Wi Fi, and begin the cleaning process. Once you've done that you can modify the settings of the app. For instance you can set up no-go zones or schedule cleanings.
Another major benefit is its outstanding obstacle avoidance system. During testing, it only got stuck twice in tight spaces, which is a lot superior to the S6 MaxV's three tries and the X1 Omni's four attempts. The app allows you to mark an object as a temporary obstruction and the S7 Max Ultra ignores it during subsequent cleaning.
Narwal Freo
The Narwal Freo is a unique robot that combines mops with vacuums. It's also among the more affordable combo bots in our review. The Freo's impressive cleaning performance and wide array of customization options makes it an excellent option for any home that requires a combination cleaner. The lack of advanced obstacle-avoidance technology and a polished mobile application diminished our enthusiasm for the model.
The first step to get the Freo up and running is a quick scan of your area that helps it map the space it will cover when cleaning. This process takes about one minute. Once the Freo has a better understanding of where everything is located it will be able to navigate more quickly during subsequent cleanings.
Freo can also register a room for either dry vacuuming, or mopping. This enables it to be more efficient in switching between these two functions. It's also smart enough to know when its mop pads are dirty and automatically return to the dock for refills and then return to clean and wet hard surfaces.
One of the strengths of the Freo is its ability to mop and vacuum well on carpets. The mops pads of its twin are automatically raised when the Freo comes into contact with carpet, allowing it to utilize less power and energy while still removing dirt. It also thoroughly sucks up sand and oatmeal spills without the need for multiple vac/mop runs.
The Freo's tilted side brush is inspired by street sweepers and does a great job at attracting and cleaning up dirt particles. The rounded body and premium finish make the Freo an eye-catching look. The robot can be controlled by an LCD screen on its base station. However, we prefer to use the app for smartphones.
The app offers many options to modify Freo's behavior. These include schedules for busy areas and spot cleanings. There is also an option to activate the parental lock. You can also select how long it takes the Freo to dry its mop pads and the frequency at which you want it to empty its dust bin. You can specify the maximum size of the trash container.
